SASKATOON, Saskatchewan, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan Inc. Tuesday said it rejected an unsolicited buyout offer from Australia's BHP Billiton mining.
BHP Billiton made a $38.6 billion all-cash offer to take over one of the world's largest fertilizer, industrial and animal feed companies, sending Potash Corp. shares up 26 percent in pre-market trading, the Financial Post reported.
The unsolicited bid of about $130 a share came a day after rival Canadian fertilizer and agribusiness firm Agrium Inc., made an unsolicited bid for AWB Ltd., a giant Australian wheat exporter. CNN
