Quebec airline Aeropro shuts down

QUEBEC CITY, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Aeropro, a small Canadian charter airline based in Quebec, has shut down flight operations after being grounded following a fatal crash in June.

The Quebec carrier has been involved in four accidents since 2001 and a departmental audit determined the company was not able to certify operational safety, Transport Canada said Monday.

Aeropro said in a statement it was halting flights and laying off about 100 employees. "It's an unfortunate situation and Aeropro wants to underline its employees professionalism and dedicated work in these difficult past weeks," the statement said. UPI
