The Licensing Agency, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has recently signed a strategic agreement in a form of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (Jafza).
The agreement was signed in the context of the continuous endeavours of the two Dubai-based agencies to enhance their integration, coordination and cooperation towards realising the vision and strategy of Dubai.
The agreement signifies the attention of Jafza to master every support to serve the public interest, and underscores the vitality of the RTA as a strategic partner contributing to the support of the national economy and sustained development.
It also reflects the intention of the two parties to establish uniform communication channels towards issuing permits to individuals and businesses intending to practice transport activities (including the use of vehicles and motorbikes) within Jebel Ali Free Zone.
It also provides for opening of traffic files for employees sponsored by Jafza to enable them to obtain driving licences and register vehicles in their names as well as the names of entities licensed by Jafza; which qualifies them to receive any service provided by the RTA to individuals or corporate entities.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the RTA by the CEO of Licensing Agency, Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan, and on behalf of Jafza by its CEO Salma Ali Saif bin Hareb. Bahrozyan expressed his delight with the signing of the agreement with one of the key economic entities in Dubai, adding that RTA would work through this agreement with Jafza to achieve a number of common goals and objectives in keeping with the high standing of Dubai as a premier economic and business centre in the region.
