The mayor of Sofia reopened on Friday a garden around a Russian monument after extensive renovation, the Sophia News Agency reported.
Jordanka Fandakova laid flowers at the monument in tribute to those who died in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878.
The renovation was completed in time for the celebration of the 133rd anniversary of the Battle at the Shipka Pass on August 11.
The asphalt around the Russian Monument was replaced by "nice paving-stones," the mayor said, adding that people will be now be able "to enjoy the beauty and the coziness of the renovated garden". RIA Novosti
