Stress hits bottom in worker poll

PRINCETON, N.J., Aug. 30 (UPI) -- U.S. workers indicated in a recent poll that job-stress was the least favorite part of their jobs, Gallup researchers said.

Work-stress displaced earnings at the bottom of an annual satisfaction index in a poll conducted in early August with 26 percent of respondents indicating they were satisfied with the amount of pressure endured at their jobs. Thirty-one percent indicated they were satisfied with their wages.

At the top of the list for worker-satisfaction was physical safety, which yielded a 78 percent satisfaction rate, followed by relations with co-workers, 70 percent, and work-hour flexibility, 64 percent. Amount of vacation time earned a positive rating at 60 percent.

The amount of work-hours came out ahead at 55 percent as did job security, which was given a 51 percent satisfaction rating. UPI
