DAMASCUS, Syria, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem accused Israel of fabricating allegations that two Druse residents and an Israeli Arab spied for Syria.
Muallem raised the allegations in letters to U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, the U.N. Human Rights Council, the U.N. high commissioner for human rights and the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Syrian news agency SANA said.
On Thursday, an Israeli court indicted a father and son from the Druse village of Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights and an Israeli Arab from Bakka al-Gharbiya on suspicion of spying for Syrian intelligence.
In his letter, Muallem asked the organizations to pressure Israel to drop the charges and accused Israel of violating international law. UPI
