Turner Broadcasting to open Dubai office

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- The Turner Broadcasting System, the operator of CNN and the Cartoon Network, plans to open an office in Dubai, a United Arab Emirates newspaper said.

The National reported Sunday that the Time Warner media conglomerate also plans to syndicate the Emirati animated series "Freej" outside the Middle East and North Africa, as well as open a local production center.

Alan Musa, the vice president and general manager for the MENA region at Turner Broadcasting System, told the newspaper the company plans to open an office in Dubai in the latter half of this year and at the same time will start broadcasting its new free-to-air Cartoon Network Arabic channel.

"We are going to be opening an office in Dubai. Initially, it'll be more on the commercial marketing side, with some public relations," Musa said.
