Violence leaves 17 dead in Mexican city


(CNN) -- Violence in the Mexican city of Ciudad Juarez left 17 people dead Friday, including two police officers ambushed while on routine patrol.
A gunman opened fire after a car blocked the officers' truck, said Arturo Sandoval, a spokesman for the district attorney's investigative unit.
In another incident, a group opened fire in a park full of visitors, killing a man and wounding at least six bystanders.
Later that evening, a young couple was fatally shot as they drove through a part of the city known for its upscale nightclubs.
More fatalities occurred in violence citywide. CNN
