Wallace Loh to become UM president Nov. 1

COLLEGE PARK, Md., Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Wallace D. Loh, a law professor and the University of Iowa provost, will become president of the University of Maryland Nov. 1, a UM spokesman said.

Loh will replace C.D. Mote, who is retiring after 12 years in the position at the University of Maryland, the University System of Maryland's flagship institution in College Park, the Baltimore Sun reported Tuesday.

Loh was appointed executive vice president and provost at the Iowa university in August 2008, and is the former dean of the University of Washington Law School, the Sun reported. UPI
