NEW YORK, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Boulder, Colo., tops the list of America's brainiest cities; followed by Durham-Chapel Hill, N.C.; Washington; Boston and Trenton, N.J., an analysis found.
The news Web site, the Daily Beast, crunched the number from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the U.S. Census Bureau and created the list of Brainiest Cities based on three factors -- the percentage of adults age 25 and older with a Ph.D., master's or professional degree; computer scientists and mathematicians as a percentage of all employment; and scientists -- physical, biological and social -- as a percentage of employment.
Rounding out the list of brainiest cities are: San Jose, Calif.; San Francisco; Austin, Texas; Seattle; Ithaca, N.Y.; Charlottesville, Va.; Madison, Wis.; Corvallis, Ore.; Fort Collins, Colo.; Ames, Iowa; Albany-Schenectady, N.Y. and Rochester, Minn.
