Embassy team to help UAE students in NZ

The UAE Embassy in Australia has formed a team to identify the status of its nationals affected in the earthquake in New Zealand.
According to WAM, the UAE Embassy in Canberra has set up an operations room to directly monitor the situation of UAE students in New Zealand following the powerful earthquake that rocked Christchurch.

The country’s second largest city witnessed large-scale damages to infrastructure following a quake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale.
According to local media reports, no deaths have been reported so far. Reports also said that two people have been seriously injured.

Meanwhile, the UAE Embassy has already activated its operations room and has started maintaining contacts with all students there to ensure their safety. “Most of the students contacted said they did not feel the tremor,” the WAM report said.
