Four injured in Pikes Peak chopper crash

COLORADO SPRINGS, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- A helicopter filming a test of a driverless Audi up Pikes Peak in Colorado crashed early Friday, injuring the four people on board, police said.

The chopper, operated by Denver-based AirCam National Helicopter Services, came down a mile from the cog railway at about 7:30 a.m., KMGH-TV, Denver, reported. Jim Dirker, the pilot and owner of AirCam, was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, 10 miles east of the mountain, where he was reported to be in fair condition.

His three passengers were reported to be in good condition at Memorial.

Audi and Stanford University are testing a driverless TTS car on the winding 12-mile road up Pikes Peak.
