An Asian expatriate used a paper cutter to steal nearly KD3,000 (Dh37,000) from a jewellery shop in Kuwait, Alanba daily reported on Tuesday.
The unidentified thief waved the knife before the eyes of the female worker at the shop in a large mall in the capital and threatened to slash her neck unless she opens the safe, the newspaper said, quoting police.
“The thief entered the shop just after the Lebanese worker opened at around 8am….the mall has just opened and there was no one there,” it said.
It quoted police sources as saying the thief knew that shop opens early and that mall is not fitted with security cameras.
