MAKHACHKALA, Russia, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- Four militants were killed by police who cornered them in southern Russia, authorities said Monday.
A police source told RIA Novosti the battle broke out in the North Caucasus republic of Dagestan Thursday night when police trapped four members of a terrorist group in a house in the village of Kirovaul.
The militants opened fire when police demanded their surrender.
"According to preliminary information, four militants, including a woman, were killed. The identity of one of the militants has already been established," the source said.
