Poll: 'Tea Party' evokes strong reaction

WASHINGTON, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Calling someone a Tea Party candidate has a bigger impact than traditional political labels, a Rasmussen Reports poll released Friday indicated.

The results showed 70 percent of participants said their opinion of a candidate would be influenced by the "Tea Party" label. Sixty-one percent of respondents said they had the same reaction to the "conservative" label.

Fifty-nine percent said they responded to the "liberal" appellation, followed by 57 percent saying the "progressive" label prompts a response and 42 percent saying they respond to calling a candidate a moderate.
