HOUSTON, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- The Houston Texans have signed quarterback Matt Leinart two days after he was cut by the Arizona Cardinals, the signal-caller's agent said Monday.
Agent Tom Condon told The Houston Chronicle that Leinart has inked a 1-year contract with the Texans after the 27-year-old was let go by the Cardinals, for whom he had played his entire career.
Leinart had been expected to inherit the Cardinals' role following the retirement of Kurt Warner, but the defending NFC West champs instead opted for former Cleveland Browns quarterback Derek Anderson and released Leinart, a former Heisman Trophy winner at Southern California.
