Russian-based Arabic-language paper to be launched in London this week

Russia's RIA Novosti group is to relaunch the Soviet-era Arabic language paper Anbaa Mosku in London on September 30.
"This is a very important moment, because London has a large Arab community, including people working in the media, as well as in business and cultural circles," said editor Raed Jaber.
The original Anbaa Mosku, a translation of Moskovsky Novosti (Moscow News), was first published in the USSR in 1969 as a mouthpiece for Soviet ideology.
Moskovsky Novosti itself was a relative "liberal" paper and heralded the reform wing in the Soviet state in the late 1980s.
Jaber claims the relaunched paper, currently published twice a month, is independent despite being published under the auspices of RIA Novosti, a state-owned news agency.
"The newspaper formulates its editorial policy 100% independently and fully abides by professional standards," he said.
