COLUMBIA, S.C., Sept. 20 (UPI) -- A South Carolina city is giving away a 1930s-era office building for free on the condition the buyer relocates the structure.
The city of Columbia said the two-story, 3,784-square-foot building, which contains three office suites, needs to be moved to make room for surface parking and officials would rather not see the structure demolished, WIS-TV, Columbia, reported Monday.
"We are offering it first to anyone who wants to come and move it and they can have it at no cost for the building, but they'll have to pay for the moving cost," Columbia City Councilwoman Belinda Gergel said.
John Spade, the city's parking services director, said officials hope to begin construction on the parking lot in May or June of next year.
