Toyota to build second Russian plant

Japanese auto giant Toyota Motor Corp. plans to establish a second plant in Russia, the President of Toyota Motors Russia Takeshi Isogaya said on Tuesday.
Toyota opened its first plant in the northern Russian city of St. Petersburg in 2007.
"We intend to strengthen business activity in Russia, partly by building a second plant," Isogaya said.
The plant in St. Petersburg employs some 750 workers and has a production capacity of 20,000 cars per year.
There has been a big increase in the number of foreign car makers assembling cars in Russia in the past decade. Renault, Nissan, Toyota, GM, Ford, Volkswagen, Peugeot, and Citroen all now have production plants in the country.
