Yaroslavl forum to become major Russian political event - expert

The Global Policy Forum in Yaroslavl is an important event in the Russian political calendar, an expert said on Wednesday.

The forum “The Modern State: Standards of Democracy and Criteria of Efficiency” will be held in Yaroslavl, 250 km northeast of Moscow, on September 9-10 under the patronage of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

“Despite its youth, the forum may become a serious international event that will not only gather political leaders, experts and businessmen from different countries, but also become a venue for annual discussion of important political problems in Russia and abroad,” Director of the Russian Managers' Association Sergei Litovchenko said.

The forum will run under four sections: the State as an Instrument of Technological Modernization, Democracy Standards and Diversified Democracy Experience, New Challenges and the Concept of International Law; and Regional Systems of Global Security.

“I hope that during the discussion we will be able to analyze our actions and define the vectors that will allow us to move towards [modernization],” Litovchenko said.
