Bulgaria-descended Dilma Rousseff has increased her lead before the second round of Brazil's Presidential elections on October 31, 2010.
Results from the previous survey from October 13 showed that the lead of Rousseff, who is from the ruling Workers Party, was 6%, which was 1% less than the results right after the first round of the elections.
According to the latest polls, Rousseff's lead has become 11%, making her support a total of 51%, while her major opponent Jose Serra from the Socialist Democratic Party has 40%.
The daughter of the Bulgarian immigrant Petar (Pedro) Rousseff was believed to have lost much momentum from a month ago when she had a 20%-lead over Serra (having actually reversed Serra's lead since the beginning of 2010). This is said to result largely from corruption allegations about Dilma Rousseff's substitute as head of the cabinet of outgoing President Lula da Silva.
"Whoever wins will be elected because of a rejection of the other candidate," a Brazilian analysts said, as cited by the New York Times.
