Pioneering U.S. hip hop band Public Enemy will play a gig at Moscow's Milk club on Tuesday.
"Public Enemy's concert is a great event because the band could be called [one of] the fathers of rap. Hip hop is gathering momentum in Russia and for all who love and listen to it, this concert is a good chance to find out how it all began," concert press attache Ilya Zinin said.
Public Enemy performed once in Moscow in 2003. "This is a very important group coming to us not under the principle of 'dying dinosaurs coming to Russia,' but with a live band, lots of merit and unending drive," Zinin added, promising that the concert would be a hit event.
Twenty years ago the band released its first album Fear of a Black Planet which has become a hip hop classic . "That's why the concert will be based on it, but other hits will also be performed," Zinin said.
Famous Russian rapper Noggano is scheduled to warm up for Public Enemy and may also take part in the concert. "This is the music he [Russia's Noggano] grew up on," Zinin said.
Public Enemy was formed in 1982 and were dubbed hip hop pioneers after the release of their debut album Yo! Bum Rush the Show in 1987.
