Damien Duff and Keith Andrews will miss the Republic of Ireland's Euro 2012 qualifier against Russia on Friday because of injuries, manager Giovanni Trapattoni said.
Fulham midfielder Duff is forced out by a calf injury, and has returned to England for treatment, while Blackburn Rovers Andrews is suffering from a persistent groin problem, Tropattoni told the Football Association of Ireland.
The two players will also miss an away clash against Slovakia on October 12, Tropattoni said.
Marc Wilson of Stoke City has been called up to fill in, he added.
Russia take on the Irish squad at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on October 8.
Ireland currently tops Group B after two wins, with Slovakia second and Russia third. The Russian squad must take at least one point in Dublin after losing 0-1 to Slovakia at home in September.
