LEWIS COUNTY, Wash. -- KIRO 7 Eyewitness News has learned the state Aviation Department has launched a search for a missing plane with three people on board that may have gone down in Lewis County.
The plane -- operated by the Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute -- took off from Chehalis at about 7:15 a.m. Monday, heading for Lewiston, Idaho.
Employees told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News that there there was a pilot, a surgeon and laser tech on board.
At about 8:30 a.m., the pilot radioed in to report the plane had lost an engine and was going to turn back to Chehalis. At that point, the plane was about 5 miles Northeast of Randle.
There have been no additional radio calls from the plane.
