Adipec 2010 opens in capital


More than 1,500 companies from 60 countries displayed their oil technology at a major show that opened in Abu  Dhabi on Monday.
Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor, opened the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (Adipec). Organisers expect to produce nearly Dh4 billion worth of deals during the four-day event.
Hundreds of oil experts are attending the three-day conference that will focus on oil market developments and related issues. “The event provides an opportunity for exhibitors to showcase the latest technology and services. With more than 40,000 professionals from 89 countries attending the event, there is a multitude of opportunities to network, promote and discuss industry views and best practice,” said Hifazat Ahmad, Director of Adipec.
China, a newcomer to the region’s oil scene, is the largest participant at this year’s event. The other industrial giants attending include the US, Britain, France, Germany, Russia, etc. The UAE and most of the Gulf nations are also showing their products.
Meanwhile, Ahmad said: "As a single four-day event it is anticipated to generate more than Dh4bn in industry deals this year”.
He said the biannual event is now in its 14th year and has doubled in size and exhibitor demand since 2006 to encompass the whole of the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec) as a premium exhibition space, plus an extensive outdoor area for equipment and machinery.
“Adipec presents a platform for the international oil and gas professionals to come together for what is becoming the hub of the industry, to discuss, debate, network and to do high-level deals to move the industry forward.
