Cheese recalled after E. coli outbreak

FRESNO, Calif., Nov. 5 (UPI) -- An outbreak of E. coli has led to a recall of cheese produced by a farm in California's Central Valley, authorities said.

The Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are recalling "Dutch Style Raw Milk Gouda" produced by Bravo Farms in Traver, KMPH-TV, Fresno, reported Friday.

Twenty-five cases of E. coli have been reported so far, the station said.

The cheese was sold at Costco stores between Oct. 5-Nov. 1 and free samples of the cheese were also available at stores in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada and in San Diego.

Symptoms of E. coli include abdominal cramps and diarrhea, the FDA said.

Costco said it has removed all suspect cheese from its shelves and advises consumers who purchased the cheese to return it to stores for a refund.
