Husband arrested in 1994 Calif. poisoning

SANTA ANA, Calif., Nov. 10 (UPI) -- A Kansas man was arrested Tuesday in the 1994 poisoning death of his wife in Southern California, prosecutors announced.

The Orange County District Attorney's office said Paul Curry, 54, Salina, Kan., allegedly killed Linda Curry to collect a $400,000 insurance payoff. He faces life in prison, if convicted.

The DA's office said in a written statement that Curry called 911 on June 9, 1994, to report that his wife of two years had stopped breathing. Sheriff's investigators at the time suspected Curry had something to do with his wife's death but could not bring charges until new evidence was developed.

Curry was scheduled for an extradition hearing Wednesday. The Salina Journal said Curry had been named the city's building inspector this year.
