Berlin, Germany (CNN) -- A package that looked like it might contain explosives was found at the office of German Chancellor Angela Merkel Tuesday and handed over to police, her spokesman said.
No one was hurt and police have started an investigation, spokesman Steffan Seibert said.
The package was found during a routine inspection in the mail room, he said.
