There has been no slowing down in the resetting of Russia-US relations, presidential aide Arkady Dvorkovich said on Monday.
"We do not think that the reset process has halted. We are moving fast in all directions," he told a news conference hosted by RIA Novosti.
Unprecedented progress has been made at the talks on Russia's admission to the WTO, mainly "due to the goodwill of both sides," he added.
"We have made very good headway - the burden of disagreements has been effectively eliminated and we were able to start multilateral consultations to complete the work on a report by the working group to join the WTO," Dvorkovich said.
On the issue of the controversial Jackson-Vanik amendment, he said the US administration was planning to consider the issue within months.
The amendment, named after Congressmen Henry M. Jackson and Charles Vanik, was introduced in 1974 to restrict trade with the Soviet Union and other non-market economies until they allowed free emigration, especially of Jews, and other religious minorities.
"Needless to say, a great deal hangs on the internal political situation [in the United States]. The priority now is the ratification of the new strategic arms reduction treaty. Taking into account the situation in Congress, it is impossible to do everything at once," he said.
