Arizona lawmaker beaten in his business

CASA GRANDE, Ariz., Dec. 27 (UPI) -- Arizona state Rep. Frank Pratt was left beaten, unconscious and bound inside his place of business by an attacker who then fled in his truck, police said.

The attacker was apparently inside Pratt's swimming pool business when the incident occurred, CNN reported.

The lawmaker's wife found her husband more than four hours after the attack on Christmas Day, Casa Grande police said.

The Republican lawmaker had gone to check on his swimming pool business and when he didn't return in about an hour, his wife, Janice Pratt, went to check on him. When she didn't see his truck, she left.

She came back three hours later and spotted an unlocked gate and heard him calling for help.

Pratt was treated for his injuries at the scene and later flown to a Phoenix-area hospital where he was in stable condition with bruises and at least one fracture.
Police were looking for his gold 2007 GMC Yukon.

The Arizona legislative session opens Jan. 11, but Pratt's wife said no decision has been made on whether he will attend. UPI
