Disney community has first homicide

CELEBRATION, Fla., Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Police in Celebration, Fla., are investigating the first-ever homicide in the community developed by The Walt Disney Co., authorities said.

Osceola County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Twis Lizasuain said a woman found the body of a man in an apartment Monday morning while she was checking on a neighbor, Orlando's WKMG-TV reported Tuesday.

Dawn Peraino, a neighbor, said a friend who was to take care of the victim's dog for the holiday was unable to contact the man during the weekend, the TV station reported. Peraino said she and others in the town are concerned a killer might be in the area.

"Everyone knows everyone. It's just a small town feel and we're very upset," she said.

Lizasuain said police regard the killing as "an isolated incident".

Celebration, with a population of about 11,000, was developed during the 1990s.

Detectives located a car registered to the victim but have not identified any suspects, the report said. UPI
