ZHENGZHOU, China, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- Chinese authorities have arrested a county postal chief for driving a car into a group of seven teenagers and killing five of them, police said Tuesday.
Gu Qingyang of Luoning County in central China was reportedly under the influence of alcohol when he backed a postal car into the teens, China's official Xinhua news agency reported.
He has been charged with endangering public security.
Police said three of the five victims were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident while the other two died later at the hospital.
One teen who survived the incident told police he "felt a blast of wind at my side. When I turned around, I saw five of my friends knocked to the ground".
Sunday's accident occurred less than two months after a local official's son in northern China killed a college student in a hit-and-run drunk-driving case. UPI
