Mancini: Tevez will stay at Man City

(CNN) -- Carlos Tevez will stay at Manchester City, according to manager Roberto Mancini, despite the English Premier League club's captain having asked to leave.
The Argentina forward, who is just 18 months into his five-year contract, announced on Sunday that his relationship with City executives was "beyond repair".
However, his request for a January transfer was rejected by the club, who signed him from local rivals Manchester United in 2009.
Mancini left the 26-year-old out of his squad for Thursday's Europa League trip to Juventus, but said the player will continue the good work that has lifted City into third place in the English table near the halfway point in the season.
"I don't think he really wants to leave," the Italian told City's official website. CNN
