(CNN) -- A new national poll suggests that the country's hard times have not ruined the holiday season for most Americans this year, but have made the holidays more stressful than 12 months ago.
According to a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey released Thursday, 44 percent say that economic conditions will make the holidays more stressful than in previous years. This time last year, 40 percent said the economy had made things more stressful.
Not surprisingly, most of those who feel that way are lower-income Americans, particularly in rural areas, although age also seems to play a factor in economy-related holiday stress.
Americans under age 50 find the stress greater than those over the half-century mark. CNN
