(CNN) -- At least nine people were feared dead Sunday when a fire razed a hotel in northern Philippines, according to the nation's official media.
Authorities said 36 nursing students were at the five-story hotel in Tuguegarao City when the fire broke out, the Philippines News Agency said. The students were there to take an exam.
Twenty-seven were rescued, police said. At least six were treated for minor burns at various hospitals.
Police could not confirm any fatalities. The cause of the fire was under investigation. CNN
