Run machine Cook puts England in command in Adelaide

(CNN) -- England opener Alastair Cook continued his remarkable scoring spree on the second day of the second Ashes Test in Adelaide as Australia's bowlers wilted under a blazing sun.
England ended the day on 317 for two wickets, a lead of 72 over the home side who made a paltry 245 in their first innings.
Cook, who scored an unbeaten 235 in the drawn first Test in Brisbane, was undefeated on 136, with Kevin Pietersen still there on 85.
The pair have put on an unbroken third wicket partnership of 141 runs and ominously for Australia have hardly been troubled on an excellent wicket for batting at the Adelaide Oval.
England vice-captain Cook has scored 438 runs for just one out in the series.
"It's important to cash in when things do go your way," the 26-year-old told Sky Sports. CNN
