Moscow (CNN) -- At least one person was killed and three were missing Saturday after an explosion and fire on a Russian passenger jet, the RIA-Novosti news agency reported.
An engine aboard the Tu-154M flamed out on takeoff, causing the jet to make an emergency landing in the city of Surgut, about 1,300 miles east of Moscow, the news agency said, citing a source in Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency.
"Four people have been hospitalized due to toxic poisoning from the fire," Russian Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin told the news agency.
The aircraft, which was carrying 124 people, was flown by Kogalymavia Airlines. Authorities have launched a criminal investigation, RIA-Novosti said. CNN
