JAKARTA, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- A man involved in a 2004 bombing at Jakarta's Australian Embassy has gone on trial in Indonesia for his activities with a new terror cell, officials said.
Heri Sigu Samboja is accused of making triggers for bombs and of training others in their construction, the Australian Broadcasting Corp. reported.
Police said Samboja was involved in a cell discovered in Aceh in northern Sumatra last year.
Samboja, an Indonesian, was jailed in 2005 for his role in the bombing of the Australian embassy and was released in 2008 for good behavior.
Samboja allegedly planned to bomb the Danish embassy because of political cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed. He also allegedly planned to bomb police headquarters in Jakarta because of the large number of Islamists detained by police.
The report said Samboja learned his bomb-making skills from Azahari Husin, who was involved in bombings in Bali in 2002. UPI
