Group wants secruity details

CHICAGO, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- The Better Government Association says it wants a judge to force the Chicago Police Department to release records about its security for an alderman.

The BGA said the Chicago Police Department has refused to release details about the protection and transportation of 14th Ward Alderman Edward Burke, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

Police said the Aug. 24, 2010, request was "unduly burdensome." The BGA amended its request, but said police still refused to provide information about Burke's security detail.

Police reportedly previously said the request would defeat the purpose of the security detail.

The BGA complaint said the Chicago Sun-Times has already published some of the details it requested. The BGA also wants the court to order the police department to pay for legal fees related to the complaint.

The newspaper said it was unable to get a comment from the police department. UPI
