Rosneft stock rose 3.43 percent at the start of trade on Moscow's MICEX stock exchange on Monday in reaction to news late on Friday that Rosneft had struck a deal with BP to swap 9.5 percent of its capital for 5 percent of BP.
The deal is worth an estimated $8 billion to each company.
At noon Moscow time on Monday, Rosneft stock was up 3.15 percent with shares up to 239.84 roubles. The MICEX rose 0.68 percent.
BP shares in New York also reacted positively to the news, with quoted prices rising over 3 percent to $49.25 per share.
BP shares quoted on the London Stock Exchange were also up, rising 1.9 percent to 509 pence. RIA Novosti
