Russia's leading mobile provider MTS is in talks with heads of major foreign mobile operators on a possible merger, the CEO of MTS's mother company, AFK Systema, said on Monday.
It is not yet clear when the merger could take place, CEO Vladimir Yevtushenkov said.
He also did not specify possible partners, saying they were in a "list of the 10 largest players" on the global mobile market.
According to the company's data, MTS and its subsidiaries in Armenia, Belarus, Ukraine and Uzbekistan have over 108 million subscribers.
The company's income in the first nine months of 2010 accounted for $8.298 billion, with its net profit standing at $1.209 billion. RIA Novosti
