Two children die in Georgia fire

GRANTVILLE, Ga., Jan. 9 (UPI) -- A fire in a Grantville, Ga., home Sunday killed two young girls, authorities said.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported the cause of the blaze had not been determined. County spokeswoman Patricia Palmer told the newspaper the home did not have working smoke detectors.

Deputy Fire Chief Todd Moore said the bodies of the 5- and 9-year-old girls, whose names hadn't been released, were found dead in a bedroom, Atlanta's WSB-TV reported.

Five other children and two adults who were in the home at the time of the fire was reported shortly before 6 a.m. were taken to a hospital for evaluation. UPI
