Jubilant crowd packs Cairo's Tahrir Square

Cairo, Egypt (CNN) -- Thousands of people packed Cairo's Tahrir Square on Thursday night, cheering, whistling and clapping at news that Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak may soon announce he is stepping down.
Rain earlier in the day failed to dampen the spirits of the crowd as darkness fell and there was a festival feeling in the square, with vendors selling food and tea.
Families streamed into the square and one man, entering for what he said was the first time since the protests began January 25, said he wouldn't leave.
"It's definitely a feel of celebration but also anxiousness, and not knowing what this announcement will actually say," said Gigi Ibrahim, a protester in the square. "Nevertheless, it will be a huge victory for revolution, which is demanding for Mubarak to step down as a first demand. And if that actually happens, it would be an amazing, amazing victory". CNN
