A bronze monument of The Beatles will appear in September in the Western Siberian city of Tomsk, local officials said on Monday.
The 6 million-ruble-monument ($200,000) will feature life-size statues of the Fab Four as they posed in 1969 on the cover of the Abbey Road album.
The mayor of Tomsk, Nikolai Nikolaychuk said he was sure the local Beatles fans would help to raise the money for the monument.
"We've got a lot of music fans and those brought up on Beatles music. Many of them are wealthy people. And I'm sure they could invest in this idea," the mayor said.
Tomsk sculptors Nikolai and Anton Gnedyh, celebrated for their monument to A Pregnant Woman, will create the monument. RIA Novosti
