By a 3-2 vote, the Bismarck Parks and Recreation District and the Bismarck Park Board voted to give Director Steve Neu three weeks of unpaid leave and a letter of reprimand in his file.
Neu allegedly approved contracts for the building to house the biomass heating system for the city’s new aquatic center without board approval or allowing for competitive bidding as required by state law.
“I accept their decision,” Neu said following the meeting. “I accept their decision to discipline, and I regret that we have had to all go through this event”.
Neu would not answer any more questions.
Board President Paul Quist said that when he questioned Neu, the director told Quist he knowingly violated policy. Link
