Gas station gunman arrested

A masked gunman who shot an unarmed gas station cashier Tuesday night near Santa Barbara is not in custody. An anonymous tip, coupled with investigative leads, revealed Matthew Daniel Hamby, 25, as a possible suspect. Sheriff's detectives conducted searches at multiple locations Thursday including a home in the Mission Hills area near Lompoc, where Hamby lives.
Hamby was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail Thursday evening for attempted homicide and robbery. He is on a no bail hold for violating parole.
