Foreign minister defends decision not to meet with Israeli ambassador

Opposition parties blast foreign minister for missing her second high-level meeting since taking office in February
Foreign minister Lene Espersen is coming under renewed opposition criticism after she failed to attend the meeting over Israel’s deadly attack on an aid vessel yesterday - despite her own demands for ‘complete clarity’ from the ambassador about the incident.
It is the second time in less than three months that Espersen has been criticised for missing an important meeting. In March she did not attend a meeting of the Arctic countries that included US secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov, instead going on holiday to Mallorca.
