Russians' attitude towards the U.S. has warmed up and become more positive over the last year, an opinion pollster said on Monday.
The number of people with a better attitude toward the United States has risen from 46% to 59%, according to the All-Russia Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM).
The survey said residents of small Russian towns and villages are mostly positive towards the United States (up to 63%), though Muscovites and residents of St. Petersburg have the most disapproval of the United States (36%) of those polled.
Russians between the ages of 18 and 24 and those with good incomes (64%) also refer approvingly towards the United States.
Russians with lower incomes are often more skeptical (35%).
The survey was held on May 1-2 in 140 Russian residential areas in 42 regions, with a participation of 1,600 people. Marginal error is no more than 3.4%.
