(CNN) -- Poisoning at a girls school in Afghanistan's Ghazni province affected 59 students, local officials told CNN Saturday.
The students, who lost consciousnesses at Jahan-e-Malika high school, were hospitalized, said Dr. Ziagul Esfandi, head of the provincial health department.
She said blood and drinking water samples are being tested, but it is not clear what type of poison was used.
The governor of Ghazni also confirmed the incident, saying it affected one 10th grade class.
