Emiratis will now be able to travel to most other Gulf countries with only their ID cards, according to a report in UAE daily Gulf News.
The new system, which applies to all Gulf countries except Saudi Arabia, means that Emiratis will no longer need to carry their passports when they travel in the region.
The paper reported that the Emirates Identity Authority introduced the procedure to ease travelling procedures for nationals. No reason was provided for Saudi Arabia’s omission.
